Homework Hotline is a television show that places teachers on the phone and in front of the camera with the purpose of helping students with their homework. Students call into the show and may either recieve assistance over the phone or watch as they are helped through the problem on live television. 585-6460 Monday
through Thursday
(school days only) There are two teachers, Fred Roloff and Missy Choate, who do problems live on the air from 4:00 to 5:00 pm. At this time, students have the opportunity to call the show and ask the teachers to work out their homework problems live on the air. There are also two phone teachers, Martin McDowell and Nora Clevenger, who are always standing by to help students over the phone. The teachers that are on the Homework Hotline staff are able to answer questions that range from Elementary Reading questions to Advanced High School Calculus. Students may also call in to be entered into a daily drawing or to answer Homework Hotline's "Question of the Day." When students call, they are asked their name, school, and favorite teacher's name to be entered into a weekly drawing. There can be up to four winners per day, three from the "Question of the Day" and one from the daily drawing. The student who wins the weekly drawing will also win their favorite teacher a prize.
Nora Clevenger is an elementary sixth grade teacher. She helps all of the elementary students that call in with homework questions. Nora has been with Homework Hotline from the show's beginning. Martin McDowell is a phone teacher for Homework Hotline. He specializes in all of the questions that a secondary student may need help with. He is a teacher at Taft Alternative Academy. |
